Army Sgt. Rolondo Boone was arrested on Aug. 28, 2023 and charged with first degree murder in connection with an April 2 shooting. Boone is a unit supply specialist for 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. (Fayetteville Police Department).

The Army supply sergeant, Sgt. Rolondo Boone, assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Liberty, North Carolina, has been charged with first-degree murder following a shooting at an off-base hookah bar in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The incident occurred on April 2 and resulted in one person’s death and injuries to four others.

According to police officials, Boone was arrested on August 28 after being identified as the suspected shooter in the case. The investigation revealed that a disturbance occurred before the shooting took place. Boone is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.

It’s worth noting that Sgt. Rolondo Boone is a unit supply specialist for 3rd Special Forces Group, but he is not a Green Beret or Special Forces qualified. His role involves supporting operations within the group.

Boone enlisted in the Army in September 2018 and arrived at Fort Liberty the following year. He has received several military awards during his service.

The Army has condemned the alleged actions and emphasized that they take allegations of criminal behavior seriously. They maintain their commitment to upholding high standards of good order and discipline within the ranks.

This incident follows another fatal shooting earlier in the year involving a soldier at Fort Liberty assigned to a special operations unit. Staff Sgt. Brandon A. Amos-Dixon, a culinary specialist assigned to U.S. Army Special Operations Command, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Staff Sgt. Jimmy Lee Smith III, which occurred on January 18 in Raeford, North Carolina. Amos-Dixon is also accused of firing shots into a car with his fiancée and her daughter inside shortly before Smith’s death.
