One Bag Three Sizes, Duffel, Backpack, Sling

Meet The A10 Adjustable Bag, the ultimate multi-sized convertible bag for every situation. Thanks to Gear.com for the item! As the world’s most versatile convertible bag, it can instantly expand or contract to fit exactly what you need so you will never again have to go through the hassle of switching between different bags. With 3 sizes and 10 configurations, the A10 Adjustable Bag can transition between 31L, 46.5L, and a 62L capacity, allowing it to be your day, weekend, or travel bag all in one. The Adjustable Bag can also be completely collapsed into a small ball so that you can easily store it or take it with you wherever you go. There’s never been a bag with so much versatility.

Three things stood out for me about this bag. First, this product was highly versatile for use by the discriminating “mainstream” user on the move; it blends functionality, comfort, and rugged good looks. Second, the manufacturing quality is simply excellent. The bag is made with a polyurethane treated nylon canvas that is water-resistant and will hold up to hard use. Third, all Piorama products have a 3 year limited warranty on material and workmanship. If an issue with a product arises within this time, they will replace, refund or repair the item free of charge which tells me the company stands behind the products they produce. Over the course of three months this bag has been on three trips and on each journey I used a different carry method; shoulder carry, backpack carry, or the dreaded checked bag.

Shoulder Carry

On my first trip I carried the bag as a shoulder duffle. I attached the strap diagonally so that the bag is forced to wrap around my hips, keeping the bag balanced. There are four attachment points on the bag, two on each side of the zipper opening. The shoulder strap itself is among the better shoulder straps I have received from a bag manufacturer. It has a nice width, and a great shoulder pad. No complaints at all. Comfortable to carry and easy to stow in an aircraft overhead compartment or other small storage areas.

Backpack Carry

The A10 is much better then your standard duffle bag but not quite a high end backpack. The A10 comes with two additional straps which attach anchor points to create a backpack. There is a nice additional clasp at the top of the bag to better form the backpack strap shape, and it adds a bit of rigidity to the padded section of the straps themselves. I did notice after configuring the bag to carry as a backpack that the handles and the zipper would be against your back when you carried the bag and maybe it would not be comfortable. However, in wearing the bag as a backpack, I found the bag and straps were comfortable against my back. One issue to consider is what will you be carrying when the bag is in this mode? I did notice that if you place a lot heavy gear in the bag it is possible that the backpack could pull you backwards. This bag is one of the better duffel to backpack configurations I have used. Just be cautious of what you pack and carry in this configuration.

Checked Bag

The A10 has locking zippers, which is a great feature to have when checking a bag. I tossed it on the conveyor belt and let it be abused by baggage handlers. I had two main worries: some of the attachment points or drawstrings would get snagged, or the soft nylon would get shredded. After retrieving the bag at the baggage claim, I saw no issues which would dissuade me from checking the bag again in the future. This is an important aspect to this bag, because at 31L you can carry it on, but if you have to expand it to 62L you will have to check it. Given that it came out unscathed, I wouldn’t hesitate to check the bag again.

Summary

This is the “Swiss Army knife of bags”.  I am so impressed with the quality at such an unbelievable price point. There’s never been a bag with so much versatility; use it as a simple gym bag, or expand it to a long-weekend hauler in seconds. The Adjustable Bag is water resistant, lightweight, durable, and collapses completely for easy storage and travel.
