Plate carriers are one of the most essential pieces of gear one can have in their tactical toolbox. It’s a multi-purpose piece of equipment that can be the difference between an easy day and a really, really hard day. Looking at the obvious, it’s designed to keep you alive in the event you’re in a gunfight by protecting your vital organs from shots downrange. In recent days, plate carriers have made their way into training environments to add some extra weight and difficulty during workouts and exercises to help with increasing physical performance.
Doing the research and sifting through all the options to see what will work best for you can be the hardest part. There are hundreds of different options out there, which can turn your search into a big headache. Taking a look at your purpose for one, your current lifestyle, how often you’re going to use it and of course, your budget, is a good place to start. There are many great options and trusted brands that will have everything you’re looking for.
One of my favorites and go-to companies for over a decade has been London Bridge Trading Inc (LBT).They are one of the brands carried under the ADS, Inc. brand. ADS, Inc. of course provides, “equipment, procurement, logistics, and supply chain solutions” to those who need proper “gear” and you can find LBT product on their ADS, Inc site here. Spotter Up was invited by ADS, Inc. to attend the Warrior Expo East and the images taken at the show are of the LBT model 6094 carrier.
My first introduction to their products was back in 2009 while deployed to Afghanistan. Their Modular Plate Carrier was our best piece of life-saving gear, being both mission-effective and comfortable. Let’s take deeper look into what makes this product so amazing. It’s stitching is made of mil-spec standard type E thread with modular web attachments through out the entire carrier and a reinforced drag handle at the top of the back panel, making it extremely durable for all types of training and operating. It also creates the ability to set up your gear in any configuration that fits your needs. The reinforced shoulder straps are low vis, easy to adjust for your perfect fit and come with removable padding for extra comfort. One of my favorite aspects about this set-up is the kangaroo pocket in the front can be used as a magazine pouch, or utility pouch for other gear. The front panel is equipped with small guides to secure radio antennas or a hydration pack hose. For extra protection, the cummerbund is designed to hold side plates, or can be used for additional storage for miscellaneous items along with pouches for your radio. The carrier itself weighs in at 3.13lbs, comes in medium, large and XL sizes and six different color options which makes it a great carrier for any line of work.
All in all, this is, in my opinion, one of the best pieces of gear you could own and a must-have for all your tactical uses. London Bridge continues to stand out from the competition with their quality of products and attention to detail to the specs you need to help keep you safe. They are truly a brand I trust with my life and will continue to use in all future endeavors.
