The Vertx® Unity CLUTCH Belts were developed in conjunction with Unity Tactical™ for a wide range of missions. Although designed especially for covert use for low-vis or undercover operations, they are also well suited for overt use situations, such as active critical incident/active shooter response, training and home defense, for example. They have a lightweight, slim form-fitting design that hugs the body, allowing CLUTCH Belts to comfortably conceal a combat loadout under civilian clothes. They’re designed to allow you to conceal and secure a wide range of gear.
Because they rely on stretch material to conform to the wearer’s body, CLUTCH Belts can easily be paired with sweatpants or workout shorts and a hoodie. Vertx, as well as several other companies, offer concealment hoodies feature that feature hand pockets with concealed zippered or buttoned pass-throughs for discreet access to appendix-carry items. I have been testing out the new Vertx Manitou Hoodie and will be doing a full review of it. It’s an outstanding multifunctional hoodie for cooler weather. Vertx also offers several other hoodies. Vertx currently offers two different CLUTCH Belts — the Unity CLUTCH Belt and the new Unity Runner’s CLUTCH Belt. Belt. Vertx provided me with the Unity Runner’s CLUTCH Belt. The Unity Runner’s CLUTCH Belt is essentially a stripped down version of the full Unity CLUTCH Belt that provides an even lower profile when needed. It may be worn underneath the waistband, making it ideal for applications where concealment is difficult. Like the full Unity CLUTCH Belt, the Unity Runner’s CLUTCH Belt can be completely mission configured.
The Unity Runner’s CLUTCH Belt features a three CLUTCH cell design. There are two full-size CLUTCH cells with bottom VELCRO® closure that can be used to accommodate larger weapons and gear. They’re compatible with most KYDEX®/thermoplastic holsters and can also be used for storage of other larger items, such as a mobile phone, radio, compact trauma kit/IFAK, handcuffs, or even rifle mags. There’s also a centered narrow CLUTCH cell that accommodates a single pistol mag or smaller items such as a flashlight, folding knife or a tactical tourniquet, such as a C-A-T® tourniquet.
The CLUTCH cells are lined with VELCRO pile to easily secure key items. Three self-adhesive VELCRO hook strips are included for securing accessories (holster, polymer mag carrier, knife sheath, etc.) inside the CLUTCH cells. An alcohol prep pad is also included to clean the body-facing surface of any accessory to which you plan to apply the VELCRO hook strips.
There are also MOLLE-compatible lattice-style cutouts in the side panels of the Unity Runner’s CLUTCH Belt that allow covert storage of tools and knives. The lattice-style cutouts also provide ventilation for added comfort during rigorous activities and in hotter weather.
The CLUTCH platform is constructed of abrasion resistant two-way stretch 92% Nylon/8% Spandex Woven Stretch Twill with Hypalon® (a chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) synthetic rubber) backing and side panels. The fabric won’t pill, pick or lose shape. The no-slip backing prevents unwanted movement and sagging under the weight of gear. Once you’ve cinched the belt down to your body, it’s not going anywhere and will keep your loadout exactly where you want it.
The Unity Runner’s CLUTCH Belt features go-belt functionality that allows for rapid donning, as well as a fitted adjustable waist strap closure for a customizable fit. The Unity Runner’s Clutch Belt may be used in conjunction with an inner belt, if desired. Laser-cut slits in the no-slip lining allow the CLUTCH to be secured on the belt and may also be used for for the covert storage of small tools.
If you’re using an inner belt, there are two options for securing the Unity Runner’s CLUTCH Belt. With a standard belt, belt keepers may be woven through the slits on the inside of the non-slip material. With a hook-and-loop belt, hook-and-loop may be woven through the slits on the inside of the non-slip material.
The Unity Runner’s CLUTCH Belt is exceptionally versatiile. It can carry a wide range of gear and works with all manner of apparel. It can also be stored in glovebox or backpack for quick-deployment situations. Suggested uses include Undercover/Non Permissive Environment Use, Active Shooter Response Kit, Low Profile, Range/Bugout, Battle Belt (Non Load Bearing), Search & Rescue and Security/Personal Security Detail Use, as well as EDC.
The Unity Runner’s CLUTCH Belt, as the name implies, is also a great piece of kit when working out. I have found it to be an outstanding way to carry a pistol, mobile phone and a C-A-T. tourniquet when out running. With the Runner’s Unity CLUTCH Belt there’s really no excuse to go unarmed when going out for a jog or at the gym.
Vertx makes outstanding products. The Unity Runner’s CLUTCH Belt is no exception. It’s very well thought out. It has proven exceptionally comfortable. stable and secure in all manner of physical activities. It conceals well, even with a full loadout.
