As a long-time athlete I’ve put thousands of hours into athletic clothing. I know the difference between good quality and poorly made quality clothing. I’ve tested many over the 30 years that I’ve been teaching classes, and exercising alone.

I do everything from Yoga, to running, walking, Pilates, Tabata, etc. and I know what works for me. 5.11 sent me their newest long sleeve shirt called the Sulli. It’s a nice addition to the shirts that I use during the summer time. I walk an hour a day every morning and do my phone calls as a prep for time in my home gym. This is a wonderful shirt to do that in. Honestly, the Sulli UV Hooded Long Sleeve by 5.11 Tactical is a nice, high-quality, versatile piece designed to offer excellent sun protection.

What I like about it is the UPF 50+ rating. It’s important for to me to take care of my skin. The summer here has been in the high 90s. It’s made from 100% polyester pique. The shirt features an anti-odor and moisture-wicking finish, ensuring comfort and freshness throughout the day. My day starts with a long walk, and depending on the day I may do intense biking, Yoga or something more active.

Key Features

  • UPF 50+ Rating: Provides superior protection against harmful UV rays.
  • Three-Panel Hood: Protects the head, neck, and ears from sun exposure.
  • Thumbholes: Keep sleeves in place during active wear.
  • Flat-Locked Seams: Enhance comfort and durability.
  • Reflective Accents: Adds a stylish touch and increases visibility.

Performance

The shirt’s lightweight, fitted design allows for freedom of movement, making it suitable for various activities such as hiking, running, or casual wear. I do a lot of hiking with my husband. We’ve hiked most of the trails around NoVA. The moisture-wicking and anti-odor properties ensure you stay dry and fresh, even during intense physical activities. The addition of thumbholes is a thoughtful touch, preventing the sleeves from riding up and providing extra coverage. The shirt is comfortable to wear on its own, or with a fast-pack or vest for higher-mileage pursuits.

Comfort

The flat-locked seams prevent chafing, and the fabric feels soft against the skin. The shirt’s design is both functional and flattering, offering a body-skimming fit that is neither too tight nor too loose. It’s stretchy, fits well in terms of length, arms, and shoulders.

Durability

Constructed with high-quality materials and attention to detail, this long sleeve is built to last. The polyester pique fabric is tough yet comfortable, making it a reliable choice for outdoor and everyday use.

Style

The Women’s Sulli UV Hooded Long Sleeve combines practicality with style. Its sleek design and reflective accents make it a fashionable option for women who need reliable UV protection without compromising on aesthetics.

Verdict

Overall, the Women’s Sulli UV Hooded Long Sleeve by 5.11 Tactical is an excellent investment for those seeking a durable, comfortable, and stylish shirt with superior sun protection. It’s simple, well-made, and breathable enough for even the sweatiest of walks or runs. Whether you’re hitting the trails or running errands, this shirt will keep you protected and looking great. It’s priced fairly-well at around $54.00 dollars. It comes in white and black.
