When carrying concealed, keeping a low profile can be tough when the temperatures rise. Designed to be worn untucked, the camp collar shirt with its comfortable, less-tailored loose silhouette is one of the best summer shirts for CCW. Its air-flow-friendly, versatile design make it a great choice whether on vacation or strolling around town.

Vertx® has taken this retro-style classic to a new level with its stylish Dadeland CCW Shirt. It gets its name “Dadeland” from the upscale urban area in Florida’s metropolitan Miami-Dade County. Cue the Miami Vice theme song.

About Vertx

Vertx is a leader in discreet wear for the armed professional. Vertx was launched in 2009, when its parent company, the Fechheimer Brothers Company, founded in 1842 and owned by Berkshire Hathaway, Inc., was approached by an elite federal agency looking for comfortable low-profile pants with all of the functionality as the tactical pants they were wearing at the time but didn’t scream “shoot me first.” Working with top operators, the company developed the industry’s first tactical pant that combined the needed functionality with a low visual profile.

Leveraging its experience, Vertx subsequently expanded more into low-profile clothing over time, which eventually also brought them into bags and packs so their same customers could carry all the equpment they needed while remaining discreet.

Just because you’re on vacation, doesn’t mean you have the day off. Vertx Dadeland CCW Shirt is designed to blend in but keep the tools you need close at hand anytime, anywhere.

Vertx Dadeland CCW Shirt

The Vertx Dadeland CCW Shirt is designed to blend in but keep all the tools that you need close at hand, keeping you comfortable and stylish without sacrificing your readiness to act.

The Dadeland CCW Shirt features CCW compatible construction designed to provide extra coverage in any concealment position. It has a relaxed fit with underarm gussets and back yoke that provide unrestricted range of motion.

It has a lay-flat sport collar with sewn channels/pockets on the underside for collar stays and other small tools. It comes with removable plastic collar stays. The collar stays add structure to the collar and prevent it from curling, ensuring that it will remain looking crisp throughout the day. There is a comms loop inside the back collar with cord management of comms wires and earpiece. The collar cuts away from the neck for maximum breathability and comfort.

The placket has low-profile metal snap closure that looks stylish and allows the shirt to be ripped open for quick breakaway and easy clearing. It has low-profile placket pockets on the bottom for weights or other small items. I keep a couple of coins in the placket pockets, not just as spare change, but as added weight that helps to swing the shirt clear of my weapon when I’ve initiated my draw.

The two collar stay pockets and two placket pockets offer at total off four hidden mini stash pockets allow to pre-load items up to 2” long. The mini stash pockets may be employed for stashing handcuff keys and/or other small e&e tools hidden when operating in hostile areas or non-permissive environments.

There are two chest patch pockets. Each of the chest pockets has a “wallet trap,” an internal flap that provides added security for documents and sensitive items.

The Dadeland CCW Shirt is made of soft, breathable 3 oz. 97% cotton / 3% Spandex® (elastane) blend stretch twill fabric for comfort and mobility. The fabric is enzyme washed for softness and feel. It has anti-wrinkle and moisture-wicking treatments for optimal performance. It is an outstanding choice for hot weather wear. All stress points are double-stitched and bar-tacked for added strength and durability. Cotton can shrink, so be sure to wash in cold water and tumble dry low or hang dry. No bleach.

The Dadeland CCW Shirt is currently available in your choice of three colorways: Guillotine Black; Slaycation; and Tiger Palm. Guillotine Black is a solid black. Slaycation and Tiger Palm feature a fashionable tropical print pattern colorway. Vertx provided me with the shirt in the Tiger Palm colorway.

All things being equal, darker shirts better conceal than lighter colored shirts since they visually print less to the eye. Patterned shirts conceal better than solid color shirts, since they tend to visually break up any bulges and shadows. The Dadeland CCW Shirt in the Tiger Palm colorway that I was provided touches all of the bases. It looks awesome too.

To Sum Up

To sum it all up the Dadeland CCW Shirt is an outstanding shirt for warm weather CCW. It works great, looks cool and feels cool too. The design, quality and workmanship are superb as one would expect from Vertx. It definitely won’t be my last Dadeland CCW Shirt. I plan on getting the other colorways, as well.

The Vertx Deadland CCW Shirt has a MSRP of $59.99. The Dadeland CCW Shirt and all Vertx products are available online from Vertx at vertx.com or at authorized Vertx dealers.
