Like many of us, I have water bottles coming out of my ears (or at least overfilling cabinets and pantries). Vanquest’s 32 ounce water bottle has become my favorite lately. At least when I can find it, as my wife and children regularly steal it for their own use.

From the manufacturer’s website:

This insulated stainless steel water bottle is vacuum-sealed and insulated. It is the ideal companion for your adventures. With a 32-oz (950 ml) capacity that can keep cold for up to 24 hours or hot for up to 6 hours, you will be able to hike, ride or enjoy the range with your favorite drink any time. Feel great about cutting down on the number of plastic bottles with this reusable and durable bottle.

This water bottle is outstanding. It keeps your liquids cold or hot, as desired equally well. It is very well made, the powder coating providing a durable non-slip surface. Likewise, the double wall stainless steel construction provides excellent insulation and prevents external condensation. The rubber grip ring on the cap makes for easy opening even with gloves on.

How well does it work?

To test hot water, I put boiling water (212 degrees) in it, closed the lid and set it aside. 12 hours later, the temperature measured 130 degrees, not too far below the temp of a fresh cup of coffee. As Vanquest advertises it will keep items hot for 6 hours, I was very pleasantly surprised at how warm it still was.

Likewise, testing for cold temps, I filled the thermos with a little less than a cup of ice and the remainder cool water. 10 hours later the ice had melted. But at even 15 hours later the water remained cold.

Bottomline

Cost – List price is $23.99, below many in its peer group. 5.

Comfort – Easy to grab and hold on too, easy to use. 5

Durability – Extremely robust and well made, an easy 5.

Functionality – Very functional, does what you need it to. 5

Weight – At or slightly above its peer group. This is the only negative I see. 3

Overall rating – 23. I love this bottle. Now if I can just find which of my kids took it.
