A recent incident in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine’s Andriivka village has come to light through drone footage released by a Ukrainian armed forces unit. According to their claims, the footage depicts Russian artillery targeting their own soldiers as they attempt to surrender during the operation to liberate Andriivka.
The video, shared on Telegram by the 3rd Separate Assault Infantry Brigade, reveals Ukrainian troops still under enemy fire as they clear out Russian positions in the now-devastated village near Bakhmut. The footage shows three Russian soldiers surrendering and being made to lie on the ground for capture. However, a shocking moment occurs when what seems to be an artillery round explodes dangerously close to troops from both sides.

Remarkably, as the smoke dissipates, it becomes evident that the Ukrainian troops have miraculously survived the blast. In contrast, the fate of the Russian soldiers, as per the 3rd Separate Assault Infantry Brigade’s commentary on the Telegram post, is grim, with one being captured in pieces and two others escaping with their lives. It is a testament to the unpredictable nature of war, where luck often plays a pivotal role.
In addition to this incident, Ukraine announced the liberation of Andriivka near the Russian-held city of Bakhmut on Friday. The 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, operating on the frontlines, claimed to have led a swift and effective operation, asserting that they had severely weakened or eliminated Russia’s 72nd infantry brigade.
Subsequently, there were reports that Kyiv’s forces had successfully pushed all Russian troops out of Klishchiivka, a strategically significant town south of Bakhmut. While this development has not been officially confirmed, it would signify a notable victory for Kyiv after a grueling two-month battle in a fiercely contested sector.
According to reports, fighters from the Belarusian volunteer unit known as the Regiment of Kalinovsky played a role in clearing the village of Andriivka, which had a pre-war population of 550. However, there has been no official confirmation of their involvement.
Images published by a military information platform depict heavily armed infantry confidently patrolling a Klishchiivka street, seemingly without encountering any opposition.
