If you’re not looking to draw attention, a discreet carry bag will help you keep a low profile when transporting a long gun. Discreet carry bags that are designed to look like ordinary backpacks or sports equipment bags but hold a long gun are available from a variety of manufacturers.

Why not just go out and buy a standard backpack or equipment bag? Well, you could and might save a few bucks in doing so but most non-gun bags do a poor job in securing and protecting your long gun and may be lacking in durability. On the plus side, they may provide less risk of detection.

Sneaky Bags SPYDER is designed to resemble high-end sports equipment bag. The design was based on input from professional end-users.

Sneaky Bags prides itself as being at the forefront of innovation in covert firearms bags.  All of its products are absolutely top notch. Unlike many of the covert firearms bags on the market, Sneaky Bags were actually designed by professionals who actually use them, not people some design studio, many of whom have never even handled a firearm. Developed with the input of professional end users, Sneaky Bags SPYDER™ is the most recent evolution in the company’s line of Covert Rifle Bags. The new SPYDER is packed with cutting edge features that takes Covert Rifle Bags to a

The new SPYDER is packed with cutting-edge features that takes Covert Rifle Bags to anew level. Designed to resemble a generic high-end sports equipment bag, the SPYDER is available in four sizes: Micro / 22”, Small / 27”, Medium / 31” and Large / 36”. It’s offered in Black, Medium Navy, and Charcoal. Sneaky Bags provided me with the Small SPYDER in Medium Navy for evaluation. The Small SPYDER was designed to hold a collapsible-stock SBR or similarly sized weapons.

Sneaky Bags recommends ordering the smallest size that lets you carry your weapon system in a ready-to-use condition, unless you are willing to break down the weapon into smaller components. If you have any questions as to which size to order, Sneaky Bags will happily guide you through the selection process.

All Sneaky Bags products are built to take a beating.  The SPYDER is constructed of durable water-repellant 1000D Coated CORDURA® Nylon with closed cell foam padding. HDPE plastic reinforcement, heavy-duty YKK zippers, metal hardware, and Mil-Spec webbing for the handles and shoulder straps. The workmanship on the SPYDER provided to me is absolutely impeccable. The quality is second to none.

The main weapons compartment is padded and has a lockable double-pull coil zipper. It features full clamshell type access allowing you to lay the bag flat when it is opened. Both walls of the main compartment will hold your weapon system and feature tie down straps and sleeves on both ends to keep the weapon from shifting during transport.

Main weapons compartment has padded removable divider to facilitate carry of multiple weapons.

The main weapons compartment has a padded, removable center divider to facilitate carry of more than one weapon, broken down weapon systems or other tools. The divider is equipped with a zippered internal storage compartment.

The internal storage compartment has elastic webbing designed to hold standard magazines. Sneaky Bags recommends that you only carry four magazines in the divider since more than that will make it very thick and difficult to close.

The divider is attached by Hook & Loop so you can easily take it out if you don’t need to use it.

There are two external side pockets with double-pull reverse coil zippers. Both the larger middle side pocket and smaller front side pocket feature a PALS webbing / VELCRO® Hook & Loop grid that accepts MOLLE-compatible and Hook & Loop accessories. Each side pocket also features zippered mesh pockets. The smaller side pocket has a removable Hook & Loop ID window that can be used in place of the removable Hook & Loop Sneaky Bags logo patch on the outside of the bag.

SPYDER can be carried like a Quiver or Backpack or have the straps removed and carried like a briefcase. Shown set up as backpack.

The SPYDER features a removable adjustable multi-carry shoulder strap. The strap is constructed of heavy webbing and comes with two removable shoulder pads. The back of the bag has four D-rings and webbing loops that allow you to quickly convert the SPYDER for carry like a regular backpack, cross body sling bag or a shoulder bag. And, if desired, the shoulder straps can be removed and the bag carried by its carrying handle. When set up for backpack carry, the shoulder strap passes through the webbing loops on the top of the bag to also create a drag handle.

The sling-style mode of carry offers several advantages. In addition to keeping one’s hands free, it also allows the bag to quickly rotated around to the front for rapid access to the main weapons compartment and for better control of the bag in crowded locations. And sling carry is also a more fitting mode of carry for a “sports equipment bag” drawing less attention. Although it’s gotten a lot compliments, no one so far has immediately pegged it as a gun bag.

The external dimensions of the Small / 27” SPYDER are 27″ (L) x 9.25″ (W) x 5.5″ (D). The main weapons compartment is 26″ x 9″ x 2.5″. The middle external side pocket measures 20″ (L) x 9″ (H) x 1.5″ (D). The front pocket is 10″ (L) x 8″ (H) x 1″ (D). The height of the external pockets is measured at midpoint since they’re slanted.

If you are in the market for a discreet carry case for a long gun, you definitely need to check out the Sneaky Bags SPYDER Covert Rifle Bag. It’s an outstanding bag covert rifle bag.

MSRP for Sneaky Bags SPYDER is a follows: Micro / 22” $170, Small / 27” $180, Medium / 31” $190 and Large /36” $200. Sneaky Bags provides a discount to LE/MIL/USG professionals. All Sneaky Bags a come with a 5-year limited warranty.
