In Memory of Mighty Men Who Marched
by Donavon L Riley
O Lord of Hosts, hear our humble heart’s prayer,
In memory of mighty men who marched,
Bold warriors, bearers of shield and spear,
Who gave their breath for their brothers’ safety.
Grant them peace in your glorious halls,
Where the brave rest, battle-scarred and weary,
Guide their spirits to your gracious embrace,
And guard their kin with your steadfast love.
Great Guardian of Heaven, Giver of Life,
On the breathless fields where sword-song rang,
Their blood was spilled, a stark sacrifice,
For homeland and hearth, they held the line.
In the storm of steel, their souls stood firm,
As wave after wave crashed upon their war-shields,
With courage unbroken, they faced the fray,
And now they lie in earth, honored and hallowed.
Let their memory live in the hearts of men,
A torch of bravery, burning bright,
Their deeds a testament to time-tested valor,
In your Eternal Light, may they find rest.
