In a intercepted phone conversation, a Russian soldier has disturbingly confessed to deriving a “thrill” from killing, expressing his desire to continue this new “profession” even after the war concludes.

He candidly recounts the gruesome scenes of violence: “It used to happen that half of the dude was torn off, the guts were lying on the ground…but if you knew what a thrill I feel when I look at a khokhol (a derogatory term for a Ukrainian), shoot him, and he falls dead from my bullet,” the Russian soldier reveals in the intercepted call, which was released by Ukraine’s Military Intelligence (HUR).

His wife inquires, “Does it feel great?” to which he chillingly responds, “Oh yes, so f**king exciting!” She then seeks more gruesome details, asking if he has ever witnessed someone being torn apart before his eyes.

He continues with horrifying descriptions: “Of course. There was a case when the legs were in place, but the rest of the body was blown up.” He recalls another incident involving a drone attack, “Or I remember the dude was sitting, then the ‘bird’ (drone) throws off the shell, he tears up where the [genitals] are, and he is still alive, yelling ‘shoot me.’ We didn’t shoot him, he just bled out.”

The soldier confesses that he has developed a morbid addiction to death and expresses his intention to continue with this “profession” even if the war eventually ends. He remarks, “There is no such puppy feeling! But it seems that this s**t will end, and I will continue this profession. I’m addicted to death!”

While it’s important to note that the authenticity of the intercepted call has not been independently verified, and the precise date of the conversation remains unknown, the situation for soldiers on both sides of the conflict is undeniably challenging as Ukraine’s counteroffensive gains momentum.

Ukrainian soldiers, as reported by the Kyiv Post, remain determined to persevere, but morale has been significantly affected with no swift resolution to the war in sight. However, the release of such intercepted conversations by Ukraine’s intelligence services suggests that Russia’s military is grappling with a dire situation, with soldiers expressing fear not only of their Ukrainian adversaries but also of their own comrades.
