Recently, I was given the opportunity to review the Custom Sig Sauer P229 Grips from www.GUNGRIPS.net. After submitting my order on Monday, April 9th , I received an email of the sample product the next day. I submitted my final color and image days later I received the final product in the mail the following Monday, April 16th, which is prior to the average 7 to 10 working days delivery time, unless they work on weekends.
I must say this product exceeded my expectations. The first thing that stood out was the quality of the image, which was clear and detailed in size. To my own curiously I took a knife and attempted to scratch the laser etching but was unsuccessful. GunGrips adds custom images (or their own standard images) to the grips. They use a CO2 laser to make mono color images on the grips or a Roland UV printer to add full color images to the grips.
There are about 40 standard images you can chose from, or you can send your own custom image to them and they will make sure they can put the image on grips and send you a sample photo. The price is currently the same for standard images or custom image, i.e. price of the grips, plus $40.00 for the custom image.
When I removed the plastic stock grips, there was hardly any difference in weight. The new GUNGRIPS are purchased as blank grip stocks from reputable known high-quality grip manufacturers. These aluminum grips are precision machined with CnC machines, anodized for appearance, and to protect the aluminum. When I installed the new GUNGRIPS, they fit perfectly on my weapon with ease, no gaps, and no adjustments. I took it to the range and fired quite a few rounds to test the grips for performance. I shot several rounds with dry hands, then poured water on my hand to emulate a rainy day, and with gloves, and the grips performed exceptionally, if not better than the stock grips. With the GUNGRIPS there was no change in the profile of the grips, and I was able to keep a solid grip.

From www.GUNGRIPS.com: For the past 10 years, Hogue Inc, has made special Anodized Aluminum Sig Sauer grips for GunGrips.net. These grips have Hogue’s standard checker pattern but with an additional smooth oval pad in the grips for us to add laser etched or UV printed images.
*Starting in 2018, Hogue made the decision to stop supplying these grips. They did however, allow us to purchase all of their remaining stock. What this means to us and our customers is, starting now, the stock is limited and when the current supply is sold, they will no longer be available ANYWHERE.
