I tried the boots on the day they came in the mail. My wife and I are avid hikers. We’ve hiked about 80% of the trails in NoVa and hike every single weekend. The boots are good looking. I have a lot of boots in various colors, so I appreciate getting something different from Meindl. My wife got to sample the women’s Meindl Lady Lite Free Trail boots, and I chose the GTX Top Trail.

The boots are designed with a Flex-Use A rating, the Top Trail GTX® Mid strikes a smart balance between flexibility and support, making it ideal for lengthy walks and rougher light terrain. The Variofix® lacing system truly stands out, delivering precise adjustment and exceptional heel lock for a secure, locked-in fit that boosts confidence with every step. Underfoot, the Vibram® rubber grip sole supplies trustworthy traction across dirt, gravel, and uneven paths, while the EVA Soft Step wedge absorbs impact to reduce fatigue over long distances.

We chose to walk Leopold’s Trail for our first test of the boots. The nature trail is named for the famous conservationist Aldo Leopold. Leopold’s Preserve is a 380-acre park located in western Prince William County, VA. The Preserve features a 7-mile trail system that allows visitors to explore diverse habitats, scenic overlooks, and historic sites. It’s an easy hike, and very serene. We chose it because the pathways of this preserve are varied, from mulched to dirt, to rocky and paved. We figured it would be a good trek to break in the boots.

They didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed using my boots. Inside the boot, the Air-Active® insole enhances moisture management to keep feet cool, dry, and comfortable throughout the day. Whether you’re logging miles on local trails, tackling weekend hikes, or spending all day on your feet outdoors, the Meindl Top Trail GTX® Mid proves to be a versatile, lightweight, and dependable boot that prioritizes comfort without sacrificing performance. The rep Newt, sent me some bomb socks to use with my boots. I really liked these boots!
