FIT AND COMFORT
5.11 Tactical knows how to make clothing that fits, with sizes that don’t seem to run too large or small. Their new Fast-Tac™ TDU® pants feature a comfort waistband with stretch panels. The added elasticity is nice, particularly when getting into awkward shooting positions or climbing. The Fast-Tac™ TDU® pants also feature 9 pockets: dual magazine pockets at the back yoke, and cargo pockets with side bellows for extra capacity.
The fit on the Fast-Tac™ TDU® Long Sleeve Shirt is slightly loose to permit free movement, with a “bi-swing” shoulder for wider range of motion.
QUALITY AND DURABILITY
The Fast-Tac™ TDU® pants have a flexible, self-adjusting waistband with 7 belt loops and plenty of reinforcement. Bartacking at the fly corner, YKK® zippers, gusseted construction, and nylon reinforcement on the magazine and utility pockets make for a garment that will hold up to hard field use.
CAMO PATTERN
There are 2 styles available; “Terrain” which is a green/tan pattern (shown), suitable for multiple environments, and “night” which is more suited towards urban settings.
RATINGS
FIT AND COMFORT: 5/5 I went with an XL-Tall; a Large-Tall may have fit a little better, but the extra room is nice to accommodate insulating layers in colder weather.
QUALITY AND DURABILITY: 5/5 Lightweight with a little bit of stretch, but strong rip-stop with water resistance.
CAMOUFLAGE PATTERN: 5/5 I was surprised at just how well this pattern, which didn’t look particularly promising indoors, blended into the surroundings when I stepped outside.
VALUE: 5/5 The folks at 5.11 continue to provide quality gear at affordable prices without making things “cheap.”
TOTAL: 20/20 The 5.11® Geo7™ gear exceeded my expectations in all categories, and I was particularly impressed by the effectiveness of the camouflage pattern.
