According to information obtained by Kyiv Post, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has claimed responsibility for an explosion that resulted in serious injuries to Yuriy Afanasievsky, the head of customs for the self-declared “Luhansk People’s Republic” (LPR).

This targeted operation took place in Afanasievsky’s residence, where he sustained multiple shrapnel injuries to his head, neck, and abdomen, necessitating his admission to intensive care in critical condition.

Sources from the SBU have revealed that Yuriy Afanasievsky was installed as a Russian proxy with the rank of major general, serving as an operative for Moscow’s Federal Security Service (FSB). In this capacity, he is known for his role as the primary financier for LPR chairman Leonid Pasichnyk and for utilizing “laundered” funds to support paramilitary groups engaged in hostilities against Ukraine.

The SBU contact, using military terminology, expressed the hope that Afanasievsky’s status would change in the near future from “cargo-300” (wounded casualty) to “cargo-200” (fatal casualty).

It’s worth noting that Afanasievsky is already subject to personal sanctions imposed by the European Union, United Kingdom, Canada, Switzerland, and Japan.
