The Mantis TitanX officially launched on November 2025. It’s already reshaping how instructors and shooters approach dry fire training. The TitanX combines advanced sensor technology with realistic firearm ergonomics to create a safe, immersive, and data‑driven dry fire laser training experience. For instructors and individual shooters alike, it marks a significant shift in how skills can be developed and sustained, especially in environments where live‑fire training isn’t always available.

I received a prototype TitanX for evaluation in early 2025. Mantis sent me the production model as soon as it became available. The only changes are cosmetic.

Dry Fire Training

Dry fire has long been a cornerstone of skill development, but traditional methods come with limitations. With most semi‑automatic pistols, shooters must manually rack the slide after each trigger press to reset the hammer. This disrupts training flow and can introduce training scars, unintended habits that may surface under pressure.

The TitanX eliminates this issue with an auto‑resetting trigger mechanism that allows continuous dry fire without slide manipulation. Shooters can maintain rhythm, reinforce proper technique, and build consistent muscle memory. For instructors, this means smoother sessions, more repetitions, and fewer interruptions during drills.

The TitanX has a built‑in 650 nm, 60 ms, Class 3R red laser activates with every trigger press, offering instant visual feedback on shot placement. Fully adjustable for windage and elevation, the laser can be precisely aligned to the shooter’s point of aim. The Titan X laser is currently available in red only, with green and IR versions planned for future release. Whether used with paper targets or paired with the Mantis Laser Academy app, it enhances accuracy training and supports consistent marksmanship development across a wide range of environments.

Realistic Design for Tactical Familiarity

The current TitanX lineup offers model‑specific ergonomics to match popular Glock platforms: the TitanX 700 emulates the functional features of the Glock 17, the TitanX 701 mirrors the Glock 19, and the TitanX 702 replicates the Glock 45. They feature a Glock‑style trigger pull and are compatible with Glock‑pattern holsters, weapon‑mounted lights, and optics. The slide includes an optics‑ready cut supporting popular red‑dot footprints such as Trijicon RMR®, Shield RMS®, and RMSc. This level of realism allows shooters to practice draw strokes, sight acquisition, and trigger control using their preferred gear, making the TitanX platform ideal for everything from introductory instruction to advanced skill development.

Each TitanX includes two auto‑detecting weighted magazines that replicate the heft of real pistol mags, enabling realistic reload drills. Standard Glock magazines also fit the magwell, adding to the authenticity of manipulations. The pistol runs on an internal rechargeable battery with a USB‑C port on the slide, and a color‑coded LED indicator displays battery status.

Safe Training in Any Environment

One of the TitanX’s greatest strengths is its ability to support safe, hands‑on firearms instruction in non‑range environments. Its inert design and clearly marked red frame make it unmistakably a non‑firing training tool, allowing instructors and shooters to run realistic drills in classrooms, meeting spaces, or at home without the risks associated with live firearms. This flexibility makes it easy to integrate short, high‑value training sessions into any schedule.

Embedded MantisX Analysis System

Now here is where it gets really interesting. The Titan X is much more than simply a laser training pistol. At the core of the TitanX is the embedded MantisX analysis system, a patented suite of advanced sensors that turns dry fire into a precision diagnostic experience. A three‑axis gyroscope and three‑axis accelerometer capture hundreds of data points per second, tracking everything from pre‑trigger movement to post‑shot follow‑through. Data is transmitted via Bluetooth® to the MantisX mobile app, where it’s transformed into actionable insights on grip consistency, muzzle stability, trigger control, and more. There isn’t anything else like it on the market that I am aware of.

For instructors, this means objective, data‑driven coaching. For individual shooters, it means the ability to self‑diagnose, track progress, and refine technique with clarity that’s impossible to achieve through feel alone. Whether correcting anticipation, refining draw‑to‑fire sequences, or building fundamentals, the TitanX elevates the entire training process.

Integration With Mantis Training Ecosystem

The TitanX integrates seamlessly with the Mantis Laser Academy app, which offers timed drills, transitions, multi‑shot analysis, and more. Four modes are available for free, with additional features unlocked through optional upgrades.

The TitanX also works alongside the Mantis BlackbeardX system for rifle training, allowing shooters and instructors to build a unified pistol‑and‑rifle curriculum. Recruits at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, are now using BlackbeardX systems for simulated rifle training aspart of a pilot program to help them build stronger fundamentals ahead of the more advanced rifle qualification they’ll face later in their training.

Future Expansion

Mantis has announced plans to expand the TitanX lineup with models inspired by other popular pistol platforms, giving users even more options to match their preferred training tools. As the ecosystem grows, shooters can expect continued advancements in app features, drill customization, and performance analytics.

Final Thoughts

The Mantis TitanX redefines what dry fire training can accomplish. With its realistic design, embedded analytics, and classroom‑safe configuration, it bridges the gap between traditional instruction and modern performance diagnostics. For instructors and shooters committed to developing confident, capable skills, the TitanX offers a powerful, flexible, and cost‑effective solution.

The TitanX comes packaged in a rugged hard‑shell case with fitted foam and mesh storage pockets. The TitanX is made in the USA and backed by a two‑year limited warranty. With a suggested retail price of $199.00, it’s an accessible investment in smarter, safer, and more effective firearms training. It’s an outstanding training tool and a heck of a lot of fun!
