Israeli troops have engaged in combat with multiple members of the group Hamas in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement from the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). The ground conflict has escalated into its third week. The Israeli Air Force, a branch of the Israel Defense Forces, announced through a tweet that an air force aircraft, under the guidance of IDF forces, targeted military structures belonging to the Hamas organization. In response to rounds fired by Hamas militants at Israeli soldiers, the Israeli forces returned fire. The IDF’s tweet further reported the elimination of terrorists who had opened fire on Israeli forces and those identified on the Gaza Strip’s coastline in the Zikim area.
