VTAC Stackables from Vertx are another product designed with input from Viking Tactics founder, Kyle Lamb. These stackable storage and organizers are some heavy duty and well thought out kit. The kit is so well thought out and made, that I actually went back and got some more to add to my collection after the first shipment. This customizable organization solution was built for anyone that requires gear to be organized and readily accessible. The bags can be stacked using the innovative, patent-pending, Hidden Interlocking Tab System (H.I.T.S.) or using the larger cubes to carry the stacked smaller cubes like a nesting system.  These cubes organize, store, secure and make for easy access no matter what you are into: overlanding, camping, law enforcement, hunting, or even prepping.

They come in 7 stackable sizes and 2 pre-packaged bundles. The XS and the MD Flat cubes are the same height 3.15” and the MD Flat cube comes with a modular velcro divider to keep your gear from sliding around. When nesting inside the LG cube you can stack up to three high of the XS and MD Flat or a combo of MD Flat and XS. The MD Tool has three internal pockets on the sides and the lid zips open and lays flat for a mat to work on. The Small Bundle comes with 4 storage cubes: LG, MD Flat, SM and XS sizes. The Large Bundle comes with 7 storage cubes: XL, LG, MD Tool pouch, MD Flat, MD, SM and XS sizes. These are a good place to start your collection, then buy more as you see the need and can be more specific with the sizes to your storage needs.

The taller cubes come with long handles that extend over the tops and daisy chain loops on the front and back to either clip in gear or use shock cord to secure other items. The flat cubes and LG, XL cubes have grab handles on sides to help grab and go. All of the cubes are constructed of durable water-resistant ripstop nylon with a poly-carbonate exterior coating and light-weight polyurethane interior coating making them easy to clean and very resistant to wear and tear. The tops are all outfitted with YKK zippers and oversized zipper pulls that allow for a 270 degree opening. The XL and LG come with lockable zippers (utilizing TSA style locks). The tops are also lined with pile velcro making them compatible with Vertx Tactigami storage and organization accessories. The SM, MD and MD Tool bag have pile velcro front and back panels in order to use the modular dividers that will also accommodate Tactigami accessories. All of the cubes have a write bar surface to label or mark your bags. One of the biggest features of this line is the H.I.T.S. – Hidden Interlocking Tab System. This system allows both same footprint cubes and half size cubes to secure to each other. This system keeps all your cubes stacked and from floating around the cargo area of your vehicle. You can tuck the reinforced tabs in for storage when not in use.

That was a lot of product description type information. I found these packing cubes to be some of the best vehicle or gear storage I have used. They are well made from durable materials and will be easy to clean up after a trip. I would recommend these to any one that likes to protect their gear and is big on organization. I really like that compatibility with their Tactigami accessories to maximize the space of the cubes by adding both the MAK bands and mesh pouches to hold your smaller items and items you might need in the dark or a rush. I probably wouldn’t use them as packing cubes for flying as there are lighter options available to reduce weight and still organize your gear. The LG cube will fit side by side in the Pelican 1650 case with room on the edges and not utilizing the lid recess. They will likely fit in other cases just as easily. I just didn’t have time to check my other sizes.

Final Thoughts: These stackable cubes are heavy duty storage system that allow for the organization and secure storage of all your outdoor gear. They would be perfect to use in an RV or UTV just as easily as in your SUV or home.  For someone that likes to keep your gear organized by like items or task/use based, this is your solution.

Ready to travel, packed and stacked

By the numbers:

Comfort – 4/5 I am not sure how you would rate these for comfort but the handles allow for easy carry and the H.I.T.S. tabs secure them and keep them stacked.

Durability – 5/5 These bags are made with heavy duty materials and are stain and water-resistant with large YKK zippers. They can both carry heavy loads or protect the gear inside them, inside or outside of your vehicles.

Functionality – 5/5 The 7 sizes with modular dividers in the flat cubes and ability to nest them inside of the larger bags allows you to store all of your gear any way you want.

Weight – 4/5 Because of the heavier duty construction they are definitely heavier than camping or travel packing cubes. But it’s a weight that you are willing to accept especially if you are using them in your on and off road vehicles for storage or travel.

Value – 4/5 These are not cheap, but neither are the materials they are made of nor the construction. You can save 25% by buying either the small or large bundles. I do think they are worth the cost and will outlast most other bags or storage cubes on the market. Especially for their intended use.

Overall rating – 4.4/5 These are high quality, durable storage solutions for any outdoor enthusiast.
