Vertx® recently sent me its Any Day Backpack for evaluation. The Any Day Backpack is a versatile 20-liter pack designed to meet the demands of both professionals and everyday users. With a sleek, low-profile silhouette and a robust organizational system, it’s built to adapt to a wide range of environments, from urban commutes to field operations. It’s part of the new Daily Carry Series, consisting of three packs: the Everyday Fanny Pack 2.1; Everyday Fanny Pack+; and the Any Day Backpack.

Vertx Any Day Backpack

The Vertx Any Day Backpack is impressively lightweight at just 1.65 lbs, making it ideal for everyday carry without sacrificing durability. Its outer dimensions measure 11 inches wide by 16.5 inches high and 7 inches deep, offering a compact yet spacious profile. I found it to be the perfect size for my typical daily needs around town. It’s large enough to hold everything that I need without being overly large. The pack’s constructed from water-resistant 100% nylon, ensuring protection against the elements while maintaining a sleek aesthetic

The pack has a light light-colored interior lining dramatically improves visibility, ensuring gear doesn’t get lost in the shadows. It’s a thoughtful detail that enhances usability in low-light conditions.

One of its most innovative features is the Micro Rapid Access Pull tab, which allows users to customize zipper placement or swap out pull styles for a personalized carry experience. This modularity is especially useful for tailoring access points based on mission-specific needs. All zippers feature zipper pulls and are snag resistant. YKK® zippers are used, chosen for their durability and resistance to wear and tear.

Externally, the backpack offers two spacious front zipper pockets. The top pocket is soft loop-lined, making it compatible with Vertx Tactigami® accessories and ideal for organizing small regularly used items. It’s a great place to keep your cell phone or sunglasses.

The bottom pocket is large enough to fit the Vertx Everyday Fanny Pack 2.1, allowing you to condense your carry setup for travel or quick transitions. I tried fitting my Everyday Fanny Pack+ into the bottom pocket. It’s slightly larger than the 2.1 model and was a tad to large to fit.

The main compartment spans 16.5 inches in height, 10.5 inches in width, and 5 inches in depth, with a diagonal length of 20 inches, perfect for organizing gear efficiently. Itt features a well-structured interior with translucent mesh pockets, a key lanyard loop, small admin slip pockets, and e-band gear loops. These elements work together to create a clean and efficient EDC system, keeping gear secure and accessible. A loop-lined padded laptop sleeve cushions and protects tech devices and fits laptops up to 15 inches.

All Vertx backpacks feature ae dedicated CCW compartment. The CCW compartment mirrors the height and width of the main compartment but is slimmer at 2 inches deep, with an 18.5-inch diagonal length to support discreet storage. It features a lockable, wide side zipper for rapid access and a soft loop-lined interior for custom setups. The compartment is Tactigami compatible.

A removable Modular Holster Retention system (also referred to as the Holster Lock) is provided to easily mount your inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster. You can also attach hook-backed modular holsters or accessories. This system works in tandem with the new Micro Rapid Access Tab for quick access. The compartment is fully compatible with Crossbreed Modular Holsters.

On the exterior, of the pack, a single stretch woven side pocket accommodates most water bottle sizes. The location of the water bottle pocket prevents the pack from fully opening up like a clamshell manner, but I didn’t find this to be an issue.

A foam back panel provides comfort without bulk. The panel also includes a vertical luggage pass-through, making travel more convenient. Ergonomic shoulder straps are equipped with webbing loops for attaching carabiners or additional gear. The shoulder straps are fairly wide and well-padded for comfort, The pack has a carry handle on the top made of nylon webbing and a grab handle near the top on the front. This is a nice featured carried over from the other Vertx packs. The pack will stand up on its own if it’s properly packed.

For users seeking added protection, the backpack is ballistic panel compatible, allowing for discreet integration of armor without compromising the bag’s streamlined design. Premier Body Armor offers a Level IIIA / HG2 Ballistic Insert fitted specifically for the Vertx Any Day Backpack. It’s made from the same material used in its NIJ-certified law enforcement soft body armor,
