Upon putting them on and walking in my yard I noticed that the boots have excellent gripping technology. They use a Vibram outsole called the Megagrip. What this means is the outsole is wearable in wet and dry terrain. If you look at the bottom of the boot you will notice the very robust lugs that run in different directions on the outsole. The combination of lugs around the edges of the outsole, and in the outsole’s center ensures you have a good measure of stability whether you are going uphill, downhill or on flat terrain. Forward and lateral movements over testy terrain are made easier because the boots use robust lugs.

I’ve had the boots for 3 months and have worn them in deep snow, hard rain, and dry weather. I try to test boots for 1-2 hours a day minimum, for at least 30 days to see how they hold up. I haven’t had any issues at all; usual issues with some footwear has been sore feet due to lack of padding, product coming apart at the seams, laces fraying, or something that is just as unlikeable.

The boots use an OrthoLite® imperial foot bed insert; the insert ads moisture wicking and long lasting comfort for your added pleasure. It took less than one week to break them in. I’ve used them now for 90 days and counting. They get less rigid monthly as the leather becomes pliable.

The inside of the boot is very padded. There is a generous amount of softness inside the throat of the boot and the tongue too. I’ve mentioned in other articles how important it is to have adequate padding on the tongue. There are tendons and blood vessels on your instep. Lacing your boots tightly or loosely can cause issues with comfort. A plush tongue reduces irritation on the instep which can cause muscular fatigue or pain.

The boot laces have a turned appearance so they stay secure when you lace your boots. They call these Ghillie laces and they will definitely secure the boots on your feet.

The tongue and the top of the collar use pull-tabs that are useful for putting the boots on, or taking them off of your feet. Notice the staggered appearance of the throat of the boot. They’ve used various cuts of leather panel with stitching; the panels are placed smartly to ensure the boot flexes properly when you are walking. No one likes stiff boots, especially at the collar.

The boots come in three colors. The color shown in these images are called Dark Coyote. There is an even darker color; it is a mocha color called Dark Earth. The boots also come in black. All of these can be polished to a high finish. The leather is waterproof and has easy-polish leather. Boot sizes can run from size 7 to 15.

The boot uses what they term eVent® Protect BBP waterproof lining; this is excellent to reduce Blood Born Pathogens. The side and rear of the heel are extremely durable. I mentioned in the video how someone I personally know was cut open when they went walking through an alleyway at night. Someone left broken glass in a box just outside the back door of an establishment. Needless to say, as my friend was walking, the glass cut him down to the bone. We rushed him to emergency immediately. The leather on the boots, and the heel are very tough and should be sufficient to repel the pointed edges of scree, rocks, branches and most objects from penetrating the hide. I think comfort is important, but safety is paramount to me, because I am a hard product tester.

The boots are very stylish. Notice the use of the fabric eyelets to hold the laces in place. The cross-placement of the eyelets are intended to give you secure lacing. Let’s review: Comfy, and well-built. Excellent shock mitigation with the Ortholite inserts. The eVent helps with wicking and keeping your feet dry; they are not as breathable as I prefer in a boot. I usually select boots that use a combination of leather and fabric quarter-panels.  I give it 4 stars for use in the rain; awesome waterproofing. Great for open trails, and climbing up slight grade, and over wet grass and mud. Definitely a boot to add to your strata of boot footwear.
