Throughout my career I have carried several tactical packs which would normally consist of ballistic nylon material.  At my 5’2″ frame, I’ve found it very difficult to able to carry everything I needed. That is not the case when it comes to the 5.11 Tactical Rapid Origin Pack. It was designed with the active modern adventurer in mind. It is a light weight, water resistant, 25L daypack, built to be mission ready.

Rapid Origin has MOLLE webbing along the front and sides of the pack. The webbing makes it easy to customize the pack to your liking. The modularity allows you to have easy access to time sensitive necessities, such as a first aid kit, or tourniquet. Webbing on both sides of the pack gives you the ability to retrieve your items without the need to remove your pack. It also includes a compartment that’s hydration pack compatible, allowing easy access, without the need of removing the pack from your body.

Even if you chose not to use any MOLLE attachment, the pack alone comes with multiple features. The front of the bag features an admin compartment, which comes in handy for small items you need access to frequently. Such as, a cell phone, passport, boarding pass, wallet, Chap Stick, pen, etc… The Inner flap of the pack has two more admin mesh compartments, allowing to visually see your items. I personally use this compartment for my ear buds and chargers. Top of the bag, provides a separate sleeve for sunglasses which is fleece lined to prevent scratches.

The interior of the bag features a padded compartment for a laptop or tablet. A webbed attachment to secure your water bottle right side up. Shoulder straps are curved to follow the natural shape of your under arm, making the pack very comfortable for longer lengths of time. The front of the strap features a buckle, going across the chest area, for an even distribution of weight of the pack across the body. Buckles on each side of the pack are available allowing you to pull the straps tight for a more compact fit.

As a female shooter/veteran I try to be conscious of my attire and am constantly worrying about looking like “tactical Barbie road kill”. The 5.11 Tactical design team has outdone themselves, allowing males or females from all walks of life to utilize this pack with ease.
