The 5.11 C.A.M.S 3.0 Bag has lived up to its name: Carry all my stuff! This product lives up to its name! With 5 external zipper pockets, 2 clear vinyl pockets on top of the bag, and moral/name patches on the bag, you can believe you are going to carry all your gear!

The 5.11 bag is has endless capabilities for load out and equipment storage. Currently the bag is set up with: 1 Magazine pocket holding 8 full size AR-15 mags, 1 external storage compartment with 7 kydex holsters, a full blow out kit with extra medical supplies in the large external pocket, and two pockets holding lights and ear pro.

The internal compartment has two fiberglass rods that provide stability for the bag. The seam on the inside that Velcro’s to the rod did rip off, but the others have continued to hold during some strenuous field test. The internal compartments have two dividers which could be a little thicker to provide better stability, but the compartments are massive. We run two compartments in the main compartment. One holds a magazine holder with 8 pistol mags, ammo, hats and a change of shirts. The second compartment with plenty of space holds two gun belts, and miscellaneous items.

The molle lining inside the main compartment allows for more items to be placed along the edges. It is great for holding safety glasses as we have between 5-10 pair at any given time with training. The main storage compartment provides endless options and layouts for your range equipment.

The rifle case provides stability for when the main storage compartment is loaded down. Without the case, the bottom could be a little more rugged. With the wheels on the inside of the C.A.M.S bag some of the pelican cases would not fit completely in the compartment and allow for the zipper to fully close. If the wheels were made on the outside of the compartment and bag, the issue of not fitting more rifle cases would quickly be diminished. Having the rugged wheels is a huge benefit when the gear bag is completely packed out.

The dimensions are:
-Main Compartment – 40″H x 20.5″L x 16.25″D
-Total Capacity – 11594 Cubic inches/190 Liters
-Weight – 18.90lbs

There is one external zipper pouch that extends the length of the bag. It is able to hold 7 full size pistols as that is what currently is in the pocket. Its deep storage allows for so much versatility. All in all, I would highly recommend the 5.11 C.A.M.S 3.0 Range bag for those long days of traveling or training with the equipment needed. This product is worth the price, with its rugged capabilities, water resistant nylon, storage space, and overall service it provides for transporting necessary equipment.

Cost: 5/5 At $269.00 this bag with all attachments and space is worth the cost for those serious about their training and luggage being organized in large enough compartment spaces.

Functionality: 4/5 This bag has exceeded my expectations with capabilities of providing all the range equipment necessary for clients and training.  The wheels being on the inside of the bag prohibited a few rifle cases from securely fitting and the zipper closing completely This can be an easy adjustment that would eliminate difficulty with pelican cases fitting.

Weight: 5/5 At roughly 18.9 lbs this bag isn’t light, but it’s not meant for long hauls anyway. The weight comes from the padding protection built into the bag to keep everything you stow away secure.

Durability: 5/5  Admittedly I have only had the bag for a few months, but have put this bag through some rigorous test.  Having a private training facility allows for the bag to be put into operations multiple times a week with training.  The bag withstands the elements from sun to rain as well as the rugged capability of transport over long distances while keeping the equipment protected. The bag shows no sign of wear or tear thus far and continues to be a suitable fit to the company.

Comfort: 4/5  The wheels allow for easier maneuverability, but the size of the bag is large which makes it difficult some times for single person operations with all the gear.  I believe if the bag had an extendable handle, this would truly cover all the essentials needed for travel.

Overall: 23/25 This is a great bag for anyone needing a bag that will easily organize their range day and provide them with more time to focus on shooting, instead of digging around for misplaced magazines or ammo.

  1. The bag itself is super rugged, I give you that.

Carrying / pulling options sadly a joke, when heavily loaded you keep having to change hands because there is no comfortable way of hauling loads for any serious amound of time.

Then ended up having to drag it ofer a stretch of rough terrain.. can’t give them the full blame for the wheels locking up due to grass getting stuck in there, but I do believe a bigger cutout for the wheels might have mitigated that somewhat.

BUT thst resulted in the rubber on the wheels getting completely worn off..a better material for the wheels might have aleviated that, but maybe not.

The point is, these bags ARE bound to be seeing some heavy duty use and abuse; a better design decision would’ve allowed for field service//wheel replacement. Currently trying to figure out if there IS a way to replace the wheels, maybe with some heavy-duty cross-scate wheels.

Plus side: appart from the problems described, the bag has been taking a lot of heavy abuse without any damage whatsoever.

I mean, I used it for my pre-lockdown shopping tour, hauling about 70-80kg of food. on foot. (this sounds excessive, and it was. But working in healthcare I wanted to make SURE I had the supplies to carry on doing my job no matter what..)

One other caveat: it is HUGE, do make sure it’ll actually fit your car before buying it, even some SUVs might struggle..same applies to luggage racks in trains, lockers, etc 😉
