While attending the 2018 Modern Day Marine Expo at Quantico, VA I had the pleasure of meeting Walter Kruger from LEGEND®. As I looked over his display of socks the LEGEND® socks looked unusual. Walter gave me a pair and explained why they were unique. He told me the LEGEND® socks used a mild but effective compression level to help improve blood flow and circulation to keep legs and feet feeling strong and fresh all day long.

They were made of soft merino wool which is naturally moisture wicking, breathable and odor resistant which creates a comfortable feel. The temperature regulating features of merino wool keeps your feet warm in cold temperatures and cool in hot temperatures. The other unique feature is all of the merino wool socks have a nylon wrapped covering to make them extra durable and LEGEND TUFF®.  I was so fascinated by these socks that I asked Walter if he could provide me a pair to evaluate over the next few months. Let me introduce you to the amazing LEGEND® (Cold Weather) Compression Merino Wool Tactical Boot Socks. These boot socks offer everything our Nation’s Armed Services, Law Enforcement, First Responders, and outdoor enthusiasts need in a sock.

Over the last few months I have tested these socks in a variety of conditions. I used them in a range of weather conditions, terrain, and on long hikes under load as I trained for a number of GO-RUCK events. I was especially impressed by the durability of the sock. Throughout my evaluation I noted some of the key construction attributes.

There is zero friction or irritation at the toe due to the seamless toe construction resulting in zero blisters, chafing, or hot spots. I also noted there is extra cushion throughout the entire sock for increased comfort and warmth. The merino wool yarn is wrapped in nylon for softness and durability resulting in zero shrinkage from washing. The spandex kept the socks up and in place and the compression over the arch of foot provided fantastic support and minimized fatigue.

I thought so highly of these socks I provided, a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps, a pair to use while attending The Basic School at Quantico, VA. The individual wore these socks on several conditioning marches, field exercises in wet, cold, weather conditions, and during many endurance events. The individual told me these socks were without question exceptional. They kept his feet warm and they are very durable. He thought the socks helped his endurance and reduced fatigue and soreness while he was in the field and during endurance events.

I am overwhelmed by the quality and durability of these socks. The style, insulation, materials, and fit of these socks is outstanding. They are tough on the outside, full of cushion on the inside, and the moisture-managing Merino wool helps your feet stay comfortable on the inside. Keeping your feet at the right temperature helps keep the rest of your body at the right temperature, making for more comfortable working conditions. Why do these socks feel so good? I believe the graduated compression technology over the mid-calf and mild compression over the arch support battles fatigue and keeps your feet feeling great.
