Intro
My first introduction to jeans was when I was about 2 years old, according to my mom (Yes, I asked). Jeans have been said to go with anything and everything. The amount of styles, colors, and materials differ in more ways than I can imagine. With that said, when I first saw the Adaptivx jeans appear on the market I was interested because of the style and pockets.
I had seen them previously when the company was known as Oxcart and with a little research found that the same people were designing the Adaptivx jeans. Also, according to anyone who purchased their jeans, they loved them.
When I was offered the ability to review them by the editor of Spotter up, I jumped at the chance. In late August they arrived in the mail. My initial impressions were, cool jeans. With further inspection and trying them on I realized how awesome the pocket placement was, the way the jeans stretch with my movements and how comfortable they really were.
I began wearing them as often as I could in hot and humid South Florida. With a few trips coming up to different places I was excited to take them on the road.
Features
Diving deeper into the features the waistband is multicam arid which I personally like. They feature 5 standard jean pockets but with way more depth and 4 extra pockets that I find very ingenious. Two of the extra pockets are just under the two front jean pockets and are great for organizing clip on equipment like knives, multi tools, pens and lights.
The second set of extra pockets are slashed back yoke mag pockets which are very deep. I can fit 30 round AR magazines in there with little showing. Other things that I use them for is tourniquets, flashlights, radios, cuffs, 16 oz water bottle, and anything else you can imagine of a similar size.
The jeans are also made of a stretch material that is amazing. Not only does it help with movement, sitting, and awkward positions but improves the capacity of the pockets. There is also some stretch in the waistband that gives a little with movement and helps with conceal carry (Which I talk about in my EDC Video).
Another thing that Adaptivx does is only one inseam length (34.5 at the time of this article). I am not sure of their reasoning, but I believe they may be limiting themselves from being able to supply jeans to tall dudes. For the shorter guys the need to have them altered or fold them will be needed. I left them at the length they came because I usually like them a little longer.
Testing
In the time since these Adaptivx jeans arrived till the writing of this article these were one of two types of jeans I wore. I wore these jeans for traveling by car and plane. I wore them on the range, to work, at trade shows, to workout, and for general daily activities. I can say they have done about everything I normally do and have been amazing.
Something that struck me while testing these jeans was the closeness of the 2 front belt loops. Because of my preferred method of carrying a firearm and spare magazine is appendix inside the waistband the loops didn’t give me as much wiggle room as I would want. I would like the loops to be about an inch further out away from the button closure.
Conclusion
As a Floridian I don’t own many pairs of jeans and most of the time wear shorts due to the tropical climate. There are many circumstances where jeans are needed. When I am on a detail and need to look like everyone else the V2X Rendition jean is my go-to. Some people may not be willing to pay for jeans that cost this much but I will tell you now, you get what you pay for. The V2X Rendition jean is well worth the cost in my opinion and when you think of it logically, they will last you quite a long time. Money well spent.
