Teach your sons to read and when you do allow them to grow their hearts. Don’t smash their spirits. Nothing is better than a man of compassion, virtue and conviction, who is filled with courage, respect and hopefulness. Raise them on the poetry of poets and the stories of heroes, those mighty men who were real and fictional.
“Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit”was a phrase supposedly spoken by the Roman philosopher Lucretius and it translates to nothing comes from nothing. If you want to get ahead than hard work is always required in order to achieve something. Remind your children of this when they get discouraged. Tell them that getting ahead means putting oneself in relative agony in order to get results. It doesn’t matter where they start but they should choose to do something. Sometimes people quit the second they get started but if they’d just stayed with it they would have made progress. Success doesn’t come without effort and nothing. Let them know you are with them every step of the way. Even heroes had challenges and in fact needed challenges in order to find value in doing something. Encourage them to read and exercise!
