I had the opportunity to review the Propper Full Zip Tech Sweater for Spotterup which is designed as a standalone sweater or as an addition to their 3 in 1 Hardshell Parka. The Tech Sweater is a very nice stylish looking zip sweater that is made well and designed with good ease of use.
The Tech Sweater is available in Olive, Charcoal Gray, LAPD Navy and Black. The Tech Sweater has a chest pocket on the left side that was surprisingly large and can be used for your cell phone or documents as it easily held my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 phone even while lying horizontally.
The hand pockets surprised me even more with each being a zippered to keep them closed with another interior zipper that when opened allows you to reach under the jacket at your front waistband (perfect for those that carry your weapon appendix style). On each side there is a zipper and snap closure that allow you access to your concealed pistol with an easy pull or tug unsnapping up for easy access to your firearm. It can also be worn with the side zip opened and the closure snap snapped underneath your weapon holster for an outside carry.
I wore the Tech Sweater around and found it to be light, comfortable, and perfect for spring and fall. It is a sweater not a windbreaker, so for windy and colder days I would recommend you to use the Tech Sweater in conjunction with the Hardshell Parka. The sweater has small loops on the outside back of the neck and on each wrist that allowed me to use it in conjunction with a Gore-tex jacket I have from a different company (the snaps allow the Tech Sweater to easily work with any jacket).
The sweater is made of polyester fleece. If you’re looking for a durable fabric polyester fleece is the way to go. This material is a soft, fuzzy fabric generally used for sweaters, jackets, mittens, hats, and blankets. It might be used in any other applications where a warm, wool-like material is needed. It dries quickly as it is resistant to moisture and holds in warmth. Unlike other materials this kind of material will not pill after long periods of use. Because it is popular as a material it is used in ear warmers and deep diving suits. I appreciate how it gets wet slowly and dries fast. Good choice Propper!
Because it fits true to size I believe a smaller jacket will make it easier for printing to occur from your concealed carry holster. I recommend that you go with a size up if you are between sizes. Go a little on the looser side than tighter so you can wear it with your gun and holster.
If you’re looking for a zippered sweater or a lining for your parka in colder weather, you will not be disappointed in the Propper Full Zip Tech Sweater. It’s a good item to have during the winter and fall periods. The MSRP is $79.99.
