REWILD YOUR MIND -Nick Goldsmith – Former Royal Marine Commando, Hidden Valley Bushcraft3 min read
Today’s episode is one you won’t want to miss, as I had the honour of interviewing Nick Goldsmith, wilderness survival consultant, resilience speaker and author of the new book out now- Rewild Your Mind available now in all good bookstores.
Nick is a former Royal Marine Commando based in the UK.
After 11 years and 6 operational deployments, he was medically discharged with a diagnosis of Complex-PTSD.
After hitting rock bottom, at times barely able to function, it was nature and the great outdoors that saved his life.
Now a wilderness survival consultant, resilience speaker and the author of the newly released Rewild Your Mind, he rebuilt his life using his experiences as the foundation for his company Hidden Valley Bushcraft and the highly acclaimed charity the Woodland Warrior Programme.
His charity is a key partner for the Blue Light Card Foundation, providing therapeutic outdoor respite weekends for veterans and emergency service workers. Born from some of his darkest days, it now stands as a guiding light for those who need it most.
It was my honour to talk with him today from his base in the UK. We covered a lot of ground in our conversation, delving into the psychological effects of injury on high-performance individuals, as well as Nick’s experience serving in Afghanistan.
We also explored the importance of nature in promoting mental and physical well-being, and the significance of resilience in everyday life. And we even talked one of my favourite things in life- New Zealand made CHOCOLATE!!
Nick is a guy making a huge impact in the world by helping others to overcome adversity and achieve positive mental health, no matter the trauma faced.
As MANY of my former guests have said, Biology CREATES Psychology, and Nick shows this with combining movement, nutrition, outdoors and nature to heal and maintain good mental health.
