We sent one of these out to Eli with Project Gecko. He did a great job showing the details of the suit, and how it can be used. Thanks Eli! Read below:

FEEDBACK MASSSUIT

We from Project Gecko got asked from Juke Performance to test their product and believe us we did. Before we show you our opinion about this excellent training tool I would like to introduce myself. My name is George and I am a state recognized Sportstherapist with writing my states exam in training science. After graduating I worked first as a personal trainer and now in a clinic for neurona rehabilitation.

For several weeks I tested the Mass Suit in nearly any way possible to present you now an overview of this Product.

FITTING

It maybe looks complicated at first sight but once explained it’s really easy to take it on and off. On their homepage there are several short instruction videos how to properly put the mass Suit on.

what I like to mention is that there are different grips and also possibilities to adjust the suit on your individual needs. You could just clip the bands to the wrist grips through what you can do drills where free hands are needed like wrestling drills or carrying a gun which is a big plus in my opinion. But instead of just focusing on the fitting itself I like to talk about how effective the mass suit is in reality.

HOW DOES THE MASS SUIT BENEFIT MY TRAINING

What I really like on the mass suit is the increasing resistance in the end of the motion. Out of a sport scientific point of view your muscle fibre recrution in the beginning of a motion is inferior to the one in the end. You can experience this really easy by just doing a squat or bicep curl. So simultaneously to more muscle fibres which get activated you also get more resistance what leads to a very good balance of resistance per musclefibre.

Another fact I really like is that the most resistance is in the end of the motion. But why is this so important? Let me explain through a short example in boxing. A common mistake in the beginning is that most people won’t extend their arm fully while punching what leads to a loss of distance and also force. This problem is applicable on many motions in sports like for instance sprinting as well.

Through training with the mass suit you can explicitly overcome this problem due to the increasing resistance. Talking out of a sport rehabilitation background the mass suit has a high functional value through having the option to train the smaller stabilizing musculature. But how?

You can clip the extension bands to the ankles either linear or diagonal to the pelvis and I highly recommend diagonal because of the following reason. Through the diagonal fixation the musculature not only has to overcome the resistance forward but also sideways. Through the lateral traction the gluteus medius, one of the most important hip stabilizing muscles, gets activated. But why this is such a big deal?

When its time to perform your body needs to be in an optimal condition to firstly achieve the goal, what ever it may be, and second to be able to do it again when needed. When you train for this certain moment most times there isn’t enough focus on the stabilizing musculature itself because it won’t make you faster or stronger. But it will make sure you stay fast and strong. Everybody who had injuries especially in the knees or lower back knows how long it takes to get back on track. So why not including your stabilizing musculature for instance while sprinting through one easy adjustment?

MASS SUIT- THE ULTIMATE TRAINING TOOL?

Let me make one thing clear. There is no such thing as the ultimate training tool. There are different great tools out there and the mass suit is one of them. But like every tool also the mass suit has it disadvantages which I want to talk about now. Looking at it just out of a tactical point of view with the goal to develop my fine motorskills I could do the motions of fixing a jam or reloading my pistol with barely no resistance .

You may can put a plate carrier over the Suit but not a belt properly. The bands will get caught sooner or later in the holster or pouches. So am I telling you there is no use of the mass suit in tactical training? There is a use and I tell you why.

Because the training with the mass suit can be extremely exhausting your body will release a big amount of cortisol, adrenalin and noradrenalin. All Hormones which also get released in high stress situations. So after you did few burpees, sprints and squats your stress level will be much higher then doing the same drill without the mass suit. After that your drills on the gun will be much more demanding. Through high stress in training its more likely to be able to retrieve this certain skills in a real life situation so I would take any tool what helps me to become better in what I do.

In my eyes the Mass suit is a great tool to bring your performance to the next level and I would highly recommend it to everyone. Even though there are a few disadvantages for tactical training I would still use it to develop my stress resistance and cardiovascular system to get an advantage in comparison with other trainings.

All in all Juke Performance did a really great job developing this suit and I’m glad I had the pleasure to test it!
