Everyday a man must face something unlikable about himself. He must face many of his shortcomings and he must do this alone. Every single day he has thousands of little choices he can make. Out of the vast collection of random thoughts and calculations that run through his mind hopefully one of those proves useful enough to sober him up to the poor reality of his life, and wakes his heart up forever to make better choices. Hopefully enough emotion flows through the dead blood in his veins and forces his sleeping limbs to take action and unfix his tomorrow. Men fixed in their old way of thinking and fixated on the wrong thought can become obsessed with disliking themselves. We lie alone in darkness. The clock sitting upon our nightstand need not count to tell us what we already know. Time passes and our life passes out of us. If a sad man wants to be truly happy he needs to become what he was in his childhood. He must have pure elation and find value in simple things. There is joy in petting a dog, and eating an ice cream cone and building a mud pie. Mysteries to youth. Sometimes a man must let go of his blade, and gun and drop his armor and simply choose to like childish things again. He must live without a certain amount of shame and embarrassment. Perhaps he needs to stop being so hard on himself. Today for a minute give it a try.
