Veteran-owned company will scale operations in Miami Valley

DAYTON, OH, March 22, 2018 – Battle Sight Technologies, a Dayton-based technology commercialization company, announced today it won a Technology Validation and Startup-Fund (TVSF) grant, garnering a $100,000 award from the Ohio Third Frontier Commission. The goal of TVSF is to create greater economic growth in Ohio-based research institutions, including the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL), a global leader in research and development.

“This grant will enable Battle Sight to expedite getting our game-changing technologies into the hands of the warfighter,” said Battle Sight President and Veteran, Nicholas Ripplinger. “This is a great example of collaboration between military branches and veteran-owned private enterprise to improve the lives of the warfighter.”

Battle Sight developed and produces MARC-IR, a revolutionary chemilluminscent writing utensil which allows warfighters and first responders to communicate in low-light and no-light situations. The company plans to use TVSF funds to invest in growing its operations in southwest Ohio.

“The region is proud to support Nick and his team at Battle Sight as they scale,” said David Scott, Director of Commercialization at The Entrepreneurs Center, an organization designed to bolster new ventures, including Battle Sight, in the Miami Valley. “We know the TVSF grant will help Battle Sight meet market demand especially in light of their ability to license this exceptional technology to friendly forces.”
