With the summer months here, the normal everyday wear are some shorts, a cool tank and flip flops, at least here in San Diego. But he good thing about being on the coast is that once the sun starts to go down, the cool breeze rolls through making it the perfect spot to be for the season (and let’s be honest, pretty much for every other season as well). For the cool nights outdoors, I’m now reaching for my Sereous Soft-shell jacket by Viktos. My new go-to outer layer for the not so warm, and not so cold times.

The Sereous Soft-shell Jacket from Viktos is a light weight, water resistance jacket, perfect for the cool weather. Not only is it stylish, but it’s also multi-functional. Taking a look at it’s performance, it’s made up of a stretch poly chassis, reinforced synthetic suede elbows (both for padding and grip) , internal cargo pockets for less bulk storage, a tactically seemed hood, water resistant coating and my favorite aspect, side vent zippers that give you access to concealed weapons.

Even though it’s pretty near impossible to get a CCW here in California, it’s still an amazing feature to have when training, or if you do happen to live in a free state where you can carry. Oh! and I almost forgot to mention the thumb holes on the sleeves. Even though it’s not too smart to have them on when working with firearms, they are still extremely fun to wear when you don’t want your sleeves to ride up, or if you want a little more warmth for your hands. Who’s with me there?

The jacket comes in two different colors, Nightfjall, which is their overall black with OD green elbow pads and trim along the zippers and Winterlochen, which is their overall white jacket with OD green elbow pads and trim. Both make for an excellent addition in the coat closet. If you’ve read some of my other reviews, you’ll know that one of the biggest things I like about gear and clothing is when they don’t look like standard issue military. Perhaps it’s just me personally, but it’s a big plus when I’m able to have these multi-functional, multi-purpose items without standing out in the crowd where everything I wear screams military. It’s all about being incognito right?

Getting down to cost. The Viktos Sereous Soft-shell is priced at $175 on their website. Definitely on the higher end of the spectrum when it comes to this type gear. Although, I am a very big fan of their products when it comes to style and quality, that’s usually a little more than I’d want to spend on outerwear.

Overall, like I said, I’m a big fan of this jacket. It has become my new go-to jacket (weather permitting). The style is very clean and it looks great with jeans, khakis, shorts, even with cami bottoms. The fit is comfortable and can be worn with your plate carrier over the top of it if your out training on a not so warm day. Viktos also carries many other products to keep you outfitted for any situation with, heavier layered jackets, pants, boots, work out gear all the way down to board shorts and flip flops, perfect for any San Diegan. Viktos is also a veteran owned company which is something I always like to support! Merica. You can take my word, but I highly suggest checking out their brand and seeing for yourself all the amazing things they have to offer.
