Steamboat Whiskey Company is a small batch distillery and a cocktail bar that was founded by former US Navy SEAL Nathan Newhall and his wife Jessica in the Fall of 2017. Originally from the mid-west, the couple headed west after an epiphany on their honeymoon and opened their dream distillery in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Their award-winning craft spirits are made by hand using traditional methods in an American-made pot still.

The company’s first flagship blend, the award-winning Warrior Whiskey, is a veteran tribute spirit paying homage to America’s fighting heroes by giving back a portion of the profits to vetted veteran support organizations. Warrior Whiskey is a blend of American made bourbon and rye whiskies finished in newly emptied rum casks and bottled at Navy strength (100 proof). 

As of this writing, Steamboat Whiskey Company has helped support the SEAL Fund, Disabled Veterans of America, The Navy SEAL Foundation, STARS, Wounded Warrior, Special Operations Warrior Foundation, 45th Bataan Memorial, Husker Salute, Pathways to Children, Ddamien Project, North Routt Public Schools, F Troop 8th Air Cavalry Vietnam Veteran’s Association, The Danny Dietz Foundation, and American Heroes in Action, with over $47,000 in donations.

In addition to blending Warrior Whiskey, the distillery also offers its award wining Ski Town Vodka, Double Gold Winning Sleeping Giant Gin, and Territorial Moonshine. Since 2019, they’ve also released their Ski Town Tiki Rum and their signature specialty products, Whiskeycello, in Lemon and Orange flavor. Whiskeycello is made from Warrior Whiskey and fresh lemons and oranges

Alex Popovic was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, and immigrated to the United States in 1986, becoming a U.S. citizen in 1994. In 1993 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, rising to serve in its elite Force Reconnaissance Company as a Scout/Sniper serving until 2004. In 2004, he entered the restaurant business and successfully grew his Subway franchises into several dozen stores and began developing locations throughout the Las Vegas commercial market. He was involved in ground up development that included raising capital, site analysis, land purchase, entitlement and final build out of convenience store, gaming, gas station and restaurant turnkey locations. In 2008 he sold his entire portfolio just prior to the financial crisis. In 2009 Alex relocated to Phoenix and became involved in distressed property purchases, and rehabs. He obtained his realtors license in 2013 and helped clients purchase a variety of different commercial properties to add to their portfolios throughout Phoenix. In 2017 he became a designated broker and opened Apex Commercial Real Estate a boutique development firm and commercial real estate brokerage (www.apexcre.net) Alex has a bachelor’s degree in Business and Entrepreneurship (BBA) and received his Masters of Real Estate Development from the W.P Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.
