If you have ever seen a zombie movie, you know that aerobics are key. The body is your most critical piece of survival gear. Go for a run or take a walk with your get home bag. Even in the extreme response states, you can still go outside. It may save your life.

I have a primary bag with direct life support stuff and sub loads with shelter and food if I have more capacity. If I don’t have a vehicle or it stops working, I have options. What should be in your bag? Depends on your situation and environment.

Basic needs:

Nutrition: water bottle/ filter and food bars or meals If you need medication to live, you should include that.

security: firearms and ammo

rescue: Light and multitool

In a cold wet environment, waterproof warm clothes, fire starting devices and shelter are necessary.

Many people build a Get Home Bag and never try to carry them. Water weighs a pound a pint. A loaded AR magazine weighs one and a half pounds. It all adds up.

Don’t have a Get Home Bag? Well, no time like the present. You probably have most of the important stuff around the house already. Wazoo Survival Gear is my favorite stop for lightweight quality basics. https://wazoosurvivalgear.com/

One of the survival skills I lack but highly prize is plant identification. Foraging is an art that’s all but lost in today’s modern society, but it can make a huge difference in your life. A bandanna is light and multi-functional. This foraging tool gives you the ability to self-aid and self-rescue.

The Foraging Bandana was designed in cooperation with some of the finest foraging instructors. It lists the 12 most common plants/fungus of North America, including their common and scientific names. The field uses of all 12 plants/fungus are listed using part indicator icons on each plant illustration. The bandanna also includes the ”5 Steps of Identifying Edible Plants” by Samuel Thayer and ”Rules and Ethics of Foraging” by Mark “Merriwether” Vorderbruggen.

It is a learning primer, field aid, and emergency reference. For neophytes, this bandanna serves as a fun, stepping-stone educational tool. For more experienced foragers, this bandanna should encourage impromptu foraging, help in sharing the passion of foraging with others, demonstrate alignment with the foraging lifestyle, and help promote awareness of continued education in this field

asfaleiadesigns.com makes low profile ballistic bags that stop bullets.

I don’t recommend that you have a multi-cam bag covered with pouches. It may draw the wrong kind of attention in an urban environment. Something non-descript may avoid “What’s in the bag?” Cheap Chinese made bags are no bargain. I have had straps separate, seams rip and zippers bust. No matter how cheap it is, if it fails, you wasted your money.

The future is uncertain. I don’t think we are going to see the worst-case scenarios, but things could also get worse. It looks pretty certain that Covid19 doesn’t make zombies but there are plenty of other bad things that can happen. Tornados, hurricanes, floods, wildfires, and tornados don’t stop for a virus. Express your love for friends and family by doing everything that you can do to take care of them and be prepared.

Not only does it signal to potential allies that you’re a survivor that can be counted on whenhttps://wazoosurvivalgear.com/collections/t-shirts/products/zombie-crew-t-shirt disaster strikes, but it’s super comfortable and performance-ready for everyday wear. The fabric is a tri-blend of 50% cotton, 25% polyester, and 25% rayon. The lower cotton content means it has the properties to both wick moisture from the skin to stave off that clammy feeling 100% cotton shirts are notorious for and also keep you cool on sweltering zombie-slaying days. $20-30
