Simply tear open the top, pull out the small oxygen absorbing packet and add water. Let it stand for a few minutes to soak into the dehydrated food and in a few minutes you have an awesome warm meal.
I got the 7 Day Meal Kit. There was a combination of meals that had something for every taste. The portions are big enough to share between two people. That is great if you have some supplemental calories, but if the meal pack is your only food, you are going to need all of those calories.
Because they don’t have artificial flavors, you may want to pack some of your favorite seasonings. Tabasco has been a favorite of mine for years and provides a little kick for AlpineAire.
These meals are easy to carry and prepare. If you are in an environment where water is available, there is no reason to carry the weight and bulk in your food. A gallon of water weighs eight pounds. It doesn’t take much extra water to markedly increase your load.
I like to keep four weeks of prepared food on hand along with normal canned goods and fresh food. I cycle meals when I go camping or work on a remote range facility. There is nothing better in the winter than heating water on the Optimus stove and having a warm meal and filling a Thermos with hot chocolate for the rest of the day.
In warm weather, I just add water and set the package in the sun for an hour or so. The dashboard of a car is perfect for this. The food comes out just right with no need for extra heat.

A Fresh Approach

When you find yourself without a measuring cup, or you just don’t want to hassle with measuring, you can use the E-Z Fill Line on the side of the pouch to help determine your water needs. Simply crease the pouch at the appropriate mark (as indicated in the instructions), and then pour in enough water until it reaches the crease mark that can be seen on the inside of the pouch. Stir. Wait. Enjoy! What could be easier?
2. E-Z Selection
Don’t waste precious time trying to figure out what’s in each pouch; we’ve taken the guesswork out of that equation for you. We have color-coded and categorized each meal so you can easily find what you are looking for. On top of that, we provide a name and a mouth-watering description that helps you determine your choice.
