5.11 Tactical – Rambler Long Sleeve Shirt

This Rambler, a 5.11 Tacitcal shirt arrived for a review. The Rambler is a long sleeve, button up shirt made of 100% cotton and stone wash charcoal in color designed with the purpose to carry concealed in mind. It does not scream tactical or appear to be a shirt designed for concealed carry as it blended very well in my environment which was around town, shopping, dining, etc. while carrying a Glock 22 in the waste band (IWB). In fact its a smart looking shirt and you can wear it anywhere. The chest pockets are roomy for a notepad, phone, or tobacco if that’s your thing.

A good shirt for concealed carry has to be comfortable. The Rambler is sturdy, comfortable with ease of mobility and a good feel of the material against the skin. The button up look on the front actually has snaps on the back of the button that function easily while snapping and unsnapping. The RapiDraw™ placket allows the user to unfasten the shirt and get quick access to their firearm. The shirt has two well placed breast pockets with a true button on each and a true button on each cuff (an additional button for adjustment would have been ideal).

The length of the shirt is where I found it to extend way too far in the back causing me issues with drawing my concealed carry pistol from IWB and found the shirt hanging up on my butt and impeding my draw.  I tried appendix carry and there were no issues with the length as the front of the shirt goes down far enough to conceal your pistol and was easy enough to pull up to draw my pistol (doing so breaks the bottom most snap in front).

I love 5.11 Tactical products as I learned with my previous purchases that they are built to last (I am still using short sleeve shirts that I purchased 5 years ago). The Rambler has the makings just like those… well made and stylish. The colors available are Stone Wash Charcoal (as tested) and Stone Wash Indigo with the price as I would expect to pay for a good shirt at $64.99.
